Oscar-nominated Gravesend-raised director Paul Greengrass is set to return to the Bourne series with original star Matt Damon.
The 59-year-old, who was ‘kicked out’ of Gravesend Grammar School, has reportedly signed up to direct another in the genre-redefining series.
Greengrass directed the second and third films in the series – The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum – but both he and Damon decided not to make a fourth.
The director went on to make Captain Phillips, starring Tom Hanks, which was nominated for nine BAFTAs (winning one) and six Academy Awards.
Meanwhile, a fourth Bourne film – The Bourne Legacy – was made starring Jeremy Renner and directed by Tony Gilroy.
Ben Affleck, best friend of Bourne star Matt Damon, told E! News this week that the actor was back on board after bowing out after the Bourne Ultimatum.
“He’s going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall”.
Damon then confirmed the story, and the director’s involvement, to E! News.
“Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that’s all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes,” he said.
The film is slated for release in 2016.
