Top 15 most essential items for day-to-day living, according to a survey:
- The internet/wifi
- Bath/shower
- TV
- Laptop/tablet/iPad
- Car
- Mobile/smartphone
- Pet cat or dog
- Washing machine
- Tea
- Coffee
- Books/e-reader/Kindle
- Comfy sofa or chair
- Make-up
- Newspapers/magazines
- Chocolate
Just under half of people (48 per cent) say they could comfortably go longer without seeing their family than using the internet.
And one in eight (12 per cent) admit they could forego food for longer than they could go without logging on to social media sites.
51 per cent could go longer without seeing their friends than using their mobile phone.
