Nearly 80 per cent of women have received unwanted presents.
More than half of women have practised a ‘pleased’ face before being given a gift.
A quarter of women say some presents have caused a row.
More than half have told friends and family not to bother giving them gifts at all as they know they will not like them.
15 per cent say they dread novelty gifts, along with clothes in the wrong size, perfume they don’t wear, cleaning products and socks.
Examples of worst presents received are a circuit board, tin opener, ironing board cover and a toilet seat.
More than a third of women admit they re-gift unwanted presents.
10 per cent simply throw unwanted gifts away.
Work colleagues are the most likely to give something women don’t want, followed by partners, friends, uncles, aunts and mums.
