Each week I share my five thoughts of the week – the good, the bad and the ugly.
But, I’m not selfish, so I’m also very happy to donate the space to guest writers to have their say, so write to me using the details below.
1. You won’t believe this, but I was served by a wonderfully friendly and helpful person in a post office this week. I was so shocked I almost dropped my parcel. But, I made a point of telling her how refreshing it was to find someone so pleasant behind the counter. I think we should all make a note to praise people, after all, we’re very quick to complain if things don’t go so well.
2. I was sent this thought by a lovely lady called Louise: “Instead of changing mobility cars every two years, why not every five when the warranty runs out? It would cut the cost to the taxpayer, but people still get mobility cars. Car makers’ profits may fall, but taxes shouldn’t be propping up business. The spare cash can be used to train or retrain the unemployed.”
3. I don’t know why, but I just can’t bring myself to tear up my tax disc. I have no idea why, I realise it’s now completely redundant. But, something inside me just won’t let me do it yet. Does anyone feel the same way?
4. Why do we persist in having lollipop people on zebra crossings? I have nothing against zebra crossings and, contrary to popular belief, I have nothing against lollipop people, but we don’t need them on crossings. They’d be better used picking up litter.
5. Two hours of torrential rain at the weekend. My hockey game started at 3pm, rain started at 2.45. As I tell my daughter, life’s just not fair sometimes.
