A care worker for Greenwich people with learning and mental disabilities has been jailed for sexual assaulting one of them.
Mustapha Aregbesola's crime came to light when a woman at the respite home where he worked confided to a staff member how he had come into her room in the night and sexually assaulted her.
The 43-year-old from Chatham was convicted on July 2 at Woolwich Crown Court of sexual assault but cleared on two other counts.
He was jailed for a year the following day.
Detective Constable Sue McKenzie from the Met's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said: "Aregbesola was entrusted to care for this woman but instead he sexually assaulted her.
"The psychological damage and distress he has caused the woman, her family and carer is immeasurable.
"I would like to take this opportunity to commend them for having the courage to give evidence court, and am grateful for the assistance of the intermediaries who made this possible.
"I would also like to urge any other victims of sexual offences who have not yet come forward, to contact the police where specially trained detectives will treat them with the utmost sensitivity."
