A 40-year-old man was stabbed, apparently with a screwdriver, after arguing with a friend in Catford last night (July 1).

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service to Catford Hill at 8.02pm following reports of a fight. Police officers performed first aid on the victim before he was taken to hospital with a stab wound to his leg.

Sergeant Amanda Ritchie said the incident was believed to have followed an argument between friends, and a screwdriver was suspected to be the weapon.

She tweeted: "The male is now in Kings College Hospital in a stable condition and being uncooperative with us."

The victim has since been discharged from hospital.

Police say the stabbing is believed to have taken place in nearby Blythe Hill Fields.

Officers are looking for a white man, 5ft 8ins tall and of slim build, in connection with the stabbing.

No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
