A 41-year-old woman was rushed to hospital in the early hours of Saturday (June 28) after a car flipped over at Plumstead Common.
Police saaid the car's driver left the scene before officers arrived.
Emergency services were sent out to King's Highway near the junction with Lakedale Road at 4.30am to reports of a car colliding with a tree.
One ambulance crew treated a woman, 41, at the scene. She was taken as a priority to King's College Hospital.
A spokesman for the London Ambulance Service said the patient was conscious and breathing at the time.
The taped-off car remained on the side of the road for several hours during the day.
