A school in Bexley is celebrating after being nominated for a national award of school excellence.
Barnehurst Infant School, in Barnehurst Close, has reached the top six of school's throughout the country for the TES School Awards of 2014.
A parent nominated the school on the back of an outstanding Ofsted inspection last year.
School business manager Chris Foster told News Shopper: "We are all thrilled to have been nominated for this award.
"Thanks really has to go to our headteacher Katherine Powell who had the vision to move the school forward and all the school staff were behind for.
"She has been the head for nearly four years. It's a fantastic achievement and we are all really proud."
The school is part of an academy chain they set up themselves especially for primary schools and they are welcoming Mayplace Primary School in Woodside Road, Bexleyheath and Cuxton Infant and Junior School into the chain in September.
Ten members of school staff will be attending the awards on July 4 to find out the winner of the catergory
