Strongmen descended on Ash in Kent when the Strongman Sanctuary organised a fundraising competition for 5 year old Brooke, who suffers from Hyper Contractile Muscular Dystrophy, an extremely rare condition that means she cannot move independently or speak.
It was a day packed full of tyre flipping, truck pulling, car lifting excitement, with over 20 strongmen competing for the coveted trophies. 1st place went to Mike Bromilow, who generously donated his prize money to the cause.
The money raised will go towards a piece of technology called a Tobii Eye Gaze, a tablet with eye movement technology that enables Brooke to communicate. £1,260 was raised on the day and in less than 2 weeks, the entire £5000 target was raised.
Anthony Martin of Anthony Martin Estate Agents, who sponsored the competition, said “It was an honour to be a part of such a fun and worthwhile event, we wish Brooke all the best, and hope she enjoys her new gadget.”
