July 20 – Tunnel 2 Towers 5k. The Firefighter’s Charity’s annual 5k charity run starts in Southwark Park and costs £18 (plus a minimum of £100 sponsorship) to enter. Go to firefighterscharity.org.uk
August 2 – Great British Beerathon. London’s craziest race involves obstacles such as cider and pork pie, lager and a Cornish pasty and bitter and a scotch egg on its 5 mile route in central London. Entry costs £30, with money going to Street Child. Go to beerbellyrunning.weebly.com
August 16 – British Heart Foundation Greenwich Park 10k. Entry £12. Go to bhf.org.uk/greenwichparkrun
September 7 – Weald St George’s 10k, at The Village Green, Sevenoaks. Go to weald10k.co.uk. Entry costs £15 in advance, £17 on the day
September 20 - The Great Gorilla Run. Run, walk or jog 8km through the City of London dressed as a gorilla to help save the species from extinction. Go to greatgorillarun.org. Entry costs £50 (and you should try to raise £400).
August 16/17 – Midnight (wo)man. One for the hard core – 3.8km swin, 180.2km traffic and pot hole-free cycle and 42.2km run. There are also half and quarter distance options, as well an aqua bike combo. Go to bridgetriathlon.co.uk
