A sweet-toothed Erith couple are celebrating after whipping up stash of awards at a top baking competition.
Debbie McFaul, aged 49, and husband, Gary McFaul, aged 48, owners of Crumbs Bakery in Bexley Road came in first place in six categories including birthday cake. innovation and overall confectioner at the Kent Master Bakers Competition held on June 21 in Maidstone.
The couple, who have run the bakery for 13 years were also just one point behind the Master Bakers' champion.
Mrs McFaul, who is a fifth generation baker, said: "We were ecstatic, really really pleased.
"So much hard work goes into it even before you enter and it's nice to get some recognition."
