Outdoor cinema screens will return to south east London this summer to show a series of classic films.
Pop Up Screen’s cinema comes complete with 30ft screen, licensed bar, Drum and Kernel Popcorn, sweets and, new this year, burgers.
Mycenae House in Blackheath is the venue for Shaun of the Dead on July 25 and The Full Monty on July 26, while Manor House Gardens in Lewisham gets three films each in August and September.
On Friday, August 8, it’s time for a Wes Anderson classic, the Royal Tenenbaums, before cinemagoers get up close and personal with ‘the dude’ as The Big Lebowski is shown on Saturday, August 9.
It’s time to pick up a wingman and buckle up on Sunday, August 10, as Tom Cruise stars in the 1986 classic Top Gun.
The action returns in September with Fight Club (September 5), Moulin Rouge (September 6) and American Beauty (September 7), before East Greenwich Pleasaunce gets a taste of the action with The Goonies (September 26) and Forrest Gump (September 27).
Pop Up Screens founder David Leydon said: “If you’ve never been to an outdoor cinema, you should, it’s a must try.
“I know it sounds like a bit of a sales pitch, but it really is the best way to watch a movie as you’re in a park, with your friends and hundreds of other people that love that movie as much as you do.
“And that real love for the movie creates a special atmosphere you won’t find at any multiplex.”
Screenings start at 8.30pm, with tickets costing £10 in advance, weekender tickets £24 or season passes (valid for all 33 Pop Up Screen films shown across London) £75.
