Former Bromley and Charlton Athletic goalkeeper George Howard has returned home after a car crash in South Africa left him in a coma.
The 20-year-old was put on a ventilator and life-support after the accident while on holiday on May 23.
He was in a coma for three weeks but woke up on June 12.
On Saturday (June 21) he returned home to Rainham, east London, and said on Twitter: "So good to be home."
Mr Howard spent a season at Bromley after being released by Charlton in 2012, where he played for the youth team.
He helped Bromley win the London Cup against Kingstonian in May last year.
His friend Martin Di Fede set up an online fundraising page to help George's family stay with him in South Africa, raising £13,880.
On the page, Mr Di Fede said: "George is coming home! The doctors have said he is now well enough to travel home.
"They are making the necessary arrangements now.
"Once home he will need to remain in hospital for a period of time before he will be discharged.
"This is obviously the news we have all being praying for, can't wait to see him!"
