Police are investigating an illegal rave in Erith scheduled for tonight (June 20) which has been advertised on Facebook - days after a 15-year-old schoolboy died after falling at a rave in Croydon.
The event is due to take place at the Arjo Wiggins Fine Papers Ltd factory in Turpin Lane but the company has beefed up security for this evening to prevent it taking place.
Rio Andrew died after falling at a rave in a disused sorting office in East Croydon last weekend and another teenager had his little finger ripped off.
Police are also investigating another illegal rave happening in Wandsworth this weekend.
Met officers will also be present at the factory this evening and they are currently trying to work out who the organisers are.
A Met spokesman said: “From all the information available at this stage, police believe that what is being advertised is against the law.
“Police are working with the relevant local authorities and land owners in the local areas to make sure that as much as possible is done to prevent these illegal events from going ahead.”
Commander Simon Letchford has warned of the perils of such parties.
He said: "Parties of this nature are not licensed, and they are often dangerous.
"No security staff, no medics, no concerns about the number of people present and unsafe properties all add up to a really dangerous place for people to be.
"People who live near these suggested venues shouldn't have to tolerate the associated noise, crime and anti-social behaviour that can come with such raves.
“The people that organise them need to be aware that they are responsible for people's safety when they plan and put on raves.
"Officers have been visiting local properties and land owners to give advice on security.
"Anyone who has any concerns or any information about the people responsible for planning these events should contact us on 101."
