Three police officers saved a woman from drowning after she was found floating face down in a Chislehurst pond. 

A 19-year-old female was discovered unconscious in the middle of Rush Pond on Ashfield Lane just before midnight last night (June 17). 

Police and the London Ambulance Service were called to the scene and had received reports she had already died. 

But sergeant Brett Smethurst and constables Natalie McNeil and Mark Inzani managed to get her breathing again after wading into the water, pulling her out, and administering CPR and first aid. 

They did so while two other women, also 19, were "being obstructive and abusive" throughout. 

The pair was arrested at the scene for being drunk and disorderly and given fixed penalty notices at a local station. 

The casualty meanwhile was taken to a south London hospital, where she remains (June 18). 

Bromley Borough Commander Chris Hafford said: "I'm very pleased that my officers were able to give the lady the medical care and treatment she needed in a challenging environment where both darkness and the water hazard made their actions more difficult.

"We all wish her well and hope she makes a full recovery."
