More than 1,300 jobseekers attended the fourth annual Lewisham Job Fair in Catford – which saw queues out the door.
Job hunters visited Catford's Civic Centre to meet recruiters and browse new job and training opportunities at the event run by Lewisham Council and Lewisham Homes.
Experts were on hand to offer tips on writing CVs, searching for jobs and even dressing for interviews with models sporting clothes by retailer NEXT.
Lewisham Council Deputy Mayor and cabinet member for regeneration and growth, Councillor Alan Smith said: “We need to work hard to encourage local employers and businesses to help us achieve full employment in Lewisham.
“We are passionate about creating job opportunities for our residents so it’s great that once again so many of our residents came down to this year’s job fair.”
More than 45 exhibitors – including national companies Virgin Media, Natwest and the British Army as well as Lewisham-based companies like CIS Security, SiteMasters and Eco Communities – were on hand on June 13 and 14.
Corporal Ryan Broughton, from the Territorial Army centre in Bromley Road, said: “We’ve done job fairs before but this has been our first time at the Lewisham Job Fair and it’s been one of the most successful we’ve done so far.
“We’ve had about 17 people fill out expression of interest forms – usually when we go elsewhere we’re lucky if we get one.
"People have asked us about a number of different jobs in the Army from HR to admin so it’s been really useful for them and for us.”
