A writer from Orpington and her co-author have received more national acclaim after penning their London Underground adventures.
Carole Blacher, 68, and friend Judy Worham, were interviewed on radio last week about the ‘Down the Tube’ books in which they explore the Jubilee and Northern Lines.
The pair, both retired teachers of Orpington College, were advised to get in touch with presenters on the programme after appearing on hit television show Pointless.
Mrs Blacher said both experiences were great and said it was “lovely” to talk about the project, having also discussed it on another prime TV slot earlier in the year.
She told News Shopper: “We started when we retired – we kept it south of the river and wanted to find out more about each stop on the lines.
“We had a great time together and going on Saturday Live was brilliant, everyone was lovely. It was a wonderful experience. It’s nice to have had so much interest.”
The writers talked to broadcaster Reverend Richard Coles and columnist Sir Simon Jenkins on Saturday June 7.

Mrs Blacher explained each book took a long time, as on both lines they got off at every stop and discovered more about each calling point – from museums, to galleries, to local eateries.
She added: “Both books were great to do. There’s so much history to uncover.”
The author added she couldn’t possibly say whether she and Judy won Pointless, which is set to air later this year.
The series is published by Worbler Press. For more information or to purchase a copy visit here.
