A primary school has written to parents following reports that a young girl was approached by two men driving a white minibus in Sydenham yesterday (June 12).
It is claimed the girl, aged 10, was in Kirkdale at around 8am when she was called over by one of the men.
She ran away to safety before anything happened.
Police have confirmed they were alerted to the incident and have stepped up patrols in the area today.
The man who called to the girl is described as white, bald, with a moustache and in his fifties. There was a passenger in the van described as white, with a moustache, wearing a white top.
A spokeswoman for Lewisham police said: "This incident is not, at this time, being treated as a criminal offence."
