Film will be at the forefront of this year’s Sydenham Arts Festival.
The festival - from July 5 to 20 - features more than 60 events, with plenty of music, comedy and theatre.
Central to the event is the collaboration between Sydenham Film Club, Film London and the British Film Institute’s Film Network called Screen Cinema: A Century of Cinema.
It starts with a free screening of All Quiet on the Western Front on July 10 and includes seven film screenings, and young people’s workshops.
Festival director Jonathan Kaufman said: “This is an exciting new venture for us. Film is a particularly important part of the festival because Lewisham borough is the only borough in London without a cinema.”
Among the other events is four-part First World War theatre production Til The Boys Come Home, more than 40 workshops, talks and demonstrations and an artists’ trail where 150 artists showcase their works around town.
