Greenwich sees the 39th Annual Thames Barge Driving Race take to the water again later this month.
Branded "London’s most unique rowing race", it will see rowers tackle a course of seven miles between Greenwich and Westminster Bridge.
Winners will then receive trophies at an Old Royal Naval College ceremony.
Event chairman Professor Alan Lee Williams said: "This unique event commemorates the skills of the traditional Thames Watermen and Lightermen who use to move freight around on the Thames by barge, under the power of oars or ‘sweeps’ and riding the strong tidal currents of the River Thames alone."
The Thames has already played host to a number of recent events such as the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee River Pageant, and is expected to attract numerous spectators and party boats in the Greenwich area on race day, ahead of the Tall Ships arrival this summer.
