London's top cop met youngsters at an Eltham hospice to help the charity mark its fifth birthday.

The Commissioner of the Met Police Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe received a tour of Demelza's facility on May 22.

Demelza has been treating life-limited and life-threatened children from Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and Lewisham at its six-bed hospice for the past five years.

Greenwich police have recently raised money for the hospice in Wensley Close and a thank you card plus a piece of artwork were presented to Sir Bernard by some of the children.

He said: "I am so pleased I visited - this is a place of hope, love and care for children, young people and their families - when they most need it.

"I was impressed and moved and we should do all we can to support them."
