Crystal Palace Overground Festival favourite Metamono have composed music for a silent film show for this year’s event.
The artists headlined in 2013 and have put together a piece to accompany the upcoming ‘Secrets of Nature – Sounds Unseen’.
The “stunning collage” of archive films date from 1903 to 1927 and organisers say the pieces showcase some of Britain’s finest talent in early natural history programmes.
Festival director Noreen Meehan explains: “It’s an incredibly creative show and will be a major highlight of the festival.
“Metamono draw on styles and techniques from the cutting edge of contemporary popular and art music, back to the days of silent cinema itself, they avoid digital audio entirely, so their music has both an ethos and patina in keeping with the films – not to mention an unmistakably British sense of fun, wonder and resourcefulness.
“It’s going to be an amazing show playing live music to some of the most wonderful, ground-breaking and bizarre British films of the silent era.”
The fundraising show takes place on Friday June 27 at St. John the Evangelist Church and precedes a Metamono performance and light show from Dizco Visual.
The movie is sponsored by Anthony Gold Solicitors and The Transmitter magazine, with technical support from Clubtek.
It is supported by Film Hub London and partners the BFI Film Audience Network.
