An old Deptford job centre has been put to work – as a pub.
Antic London, which already runs a number of quirky bars throughout south east London, is opening The Job Centre in the High Street today (Friday, June 6).
A stone’s throw from the station, it takes its name from the employment agency that occupied the site in the late 70s.
The Job Centre will serve local and regionally sourced brews on their six ale pumps, with favourites like Darkstar Brewing and Thornbridge Brewery, as well as a rotation of drinks which initially include Spanish-influenced wine menu, European summer drinks and specially infused spirits.
The kitchen is due to launch shortly after opening, serving snacking plates and hearty main dishes with a contemporary twist.
The pub’s interior is described by Antic as “an intriguing mix of vintage décor and quirky design features inspired by the building’s original function”.
DJs will play an eclectic range of music on Friday nights.
