HEALTHY eating in Erith just got easier with the opening of a health bar at a gym.
Highly regarded Nemesis Gym in Erith Riverside Shopping Centre has launched its Health and Nutrition Bar based on the caveman diet, which has proved popular with celebrities like Megan Fox, Miley Cyrus and NBA star Grant Hill.
The gym - which is sending two athletes to the world kickboxing championships in Malaysia next month and five to the amateur Muay Thai world championship in Spain in June – has worked Kent-based nutritionist Gary Hawkins on the project.
The caveman diet consists mainly of fish, grass-fed meats, eggs, fruit and veg and encourages consumption of food high in proteins and low in carbs.
The menu includes sweet potato cottage pie, breakfast burrito and cinnamon sweet potato wedges and rotates weekly. The gym also has smoothies featuring super foods such as spinach, kale and avocado.
Owner Michael Teyki said: “Everything we have is going to be much healthier and nutritionally balanced and will complement the activity going on in our classes.”
