EVERY year in recent memory, Greenwich Theatre’s panto has won rave reviews for its sharp script and Glee-like pop fun.

The question is, could the 2013 vintage live up to the hype? Oh yes it could.

Writer Andrew Pollard’s interpretation of Puss in Boots is crammed with gags.

The term ‘fun for all the family’ is a catch-all cliché which borders on euphemism but Pollard’s script really will resonate with everyone in the audience, whether it is a monologue loaded with fruit-based puns, a jab at the Government or a custard pie in the face.

Pollard doubles up at the dame, Fruity Fifi, and his performance is incredible; the hilarious linchpin of the play.

Great jokes are just the beginning; the musical numbers are a spectacle, with a cast full of brilliant singers and a pitch perfect band belting out an appealing range from One Direction to Pink to Robbie and Chic.

In order to have the energy he does as Puss, Alim Jayda must have to sleep for at least 20 hours a day.

He bursts out of every scene, leaping around with a kind of balletic athleticism.

The production values are pleasingly high too with a colourful revolving set, entertaining ensemble, great puppets and some dazzling magic.
