BEXLEYHEATH knife murderer Nicola Edgington has lost her appeal bid against her conviction and life sentence.
The mental health patient, 33, of Greenwich, was found guilty of murdering grandmother Sally Hodkin after nearly decapitating her with a stolen meat cleaver in Bexleyheath town centre on the morning of October 10 2011.
Edgington was sentenced to a minimum 37 years in prison in March after an Old Bailey jury found her guilty of murdering the 58-year-old and attempting to murder Kerry Clark, then 22.
She had stabbed her mother to death six years earlier, but was released to live supported in the community in Greenwich in September 2009.
Court of Appeal judges refused permission for Edgington to appeal her conviction and sentence on Friday (November 8).
Sentencing her to life in prison in March, Judge Brian Barker branded Edgington “manipulative and exceptionally dangerous”.
