A HISTORIC pub in Penge which was beloved of 1970s boxers has been sold.
The Alexandra, Parish Lane, shut at the end of June and has now been sold by company Enterprise Inns to an undisclosed buyer.
The pub was also listed an Asset of Community Value by Bromley Council last month, following a campaign by the Alexandra Residents’ Association.
There was public outcry following its closure and the residents' association was concerned about development on the site.
A spokesman for Enterprise Inns said: "We can confirm that we sold the Alexandra freehold on 12 September with no restrictions on future use."
Andy Peake, 60, of Victor Road, is worried about the heritage of the area being destroyed.
The residents' association member said: "The Alexandra was built in the 1860s shortly after the Alexandra Cottages.
"The local community has fought to keep the Alex at the centre of community life."
