GREENWICH, Bexley, Lewisham, and Bromley Chamber of Commerce president Stephen Nelson said: "Crossrail is the vital jigsaw piece in the redevelopment and regeneration of Woolwich.
"We have everything in place. Without Crossrail we are jeopardising the success we could bring to the area.
"From a business point of view, it will tempt new businesses. We wouldn't shut the door to anybody. Financial or manufacturing industries, all would be welcome. We have facilities in the area to accommodate all of them."
He added: "The impact of Crossrail wouldn't just be felt in Woolwich but throughout Greenwich, Bexley, and Lewisham. It will be a boom for all the boroughs in the area."
Commuters will also benefit by being able to get to Canary Wharf, where an estimated 100,000 jobs will be created over the next 10 years.
Mr Nelson said: "Businesses north of the river will need a workforce and a lot of people in the deprived areas will be keen to get there. Crossrail will give them a gateway."
Mr Nelson welcomes the backing of News Shopper.
He added: "It will give us greater access to the public to get them behind the Crossrail campaign.
"Hopefully, it will be the first of many to put their name behind the campaign.
"We need everyone's support. The case for Woolwich is so strong."
