ARMED police were on standby as officers used Hatton rounds to blow open the doors of a vehicle in Greenwich yesterday evening.
Officers carried out what they describe as a ‘hard stop’ at 6.10pm on a vehicle travelling under the flyover at the junction of the A102 and A206 in Woolwich Road.
There were four occupants in the vehicle at the time, two men and two women.
One of the men was arrested on suspicion of possessing Class A drugs and remains in custody this evening.
The second man was taken to hospital for treatment to a head injury but his condition is not believed to be serious.
Both women were spoken to by detectives at the scene but were not arrested and left the scene.
Although armed officers were at the scene, no shots were fired.
Hatton rounds are non-live rounds made of a wax compound and are used by police to breach doors.
The east side of the roundabout was closed for a number of hours following the police incident.
