A BROMLEY accountant who stole £150,000 from family trusts and failed to distribute cash to cancer charities has been jailed for 24 months.

Ronald Bassett-Cross, 70, of Sandford Road, Bromley, was sentenced at the Old Bailey after he pleaded guilty to six counts of theft and three counts of fraud by abuse of position.

Bassett-Cross was a partner at now defunct accountancy firm Vantis, but was struck off for misappropriating client money in 2009.

He admitted stealing credit balances ranging from £8,970 to £62,845 from trusts between August 1992 and June 2004.

He also admitted three fraud charges related to an abuse of position as a trustee, including failing to distribute monies to Cancer Research UK and the Marie Curie Foundation.
