A BIT like a game of Chinese whispers, a slapping at an Orpington bowling alley has been widely reported on social networking sites as a stabbing.

Countless tweets have been posted on Twitter about an incident at the Palace Superbowl, Homefield Rise, which happened just before 9pm last night (May 20).

Bromley police were called and arrested a 20-year-old woman on suspicion of common assault after an allegation she had grabbed and slapped a man.

The victim did not require any medical assistance.

The suspect, from Rainham in Essex, received a police caution for common assault.

A Bromley police spokesman says a police helicopter which was flying overhead around the time of the slapping was assisting officers in an unrelated incident.

It was called in to help track some men reported acting suspiciously, believed to be involved in cases of theft from motor vehicles in the Orpington and St Mary Cray areas.

The spokesman said: “There were no arrests but the deterrent aspect obviously worked as there were no offences of theft from motor vehicles in the area overnight.”
