VICKY Foxcroft has been announced as Labour’s parliamentary candidate for Lewisham Deptford after long-term MP Joan Ruddock is standing down.
The Brockley ward councillor was selected out of an all-women shortlist to be the party candidate for 2015 at a meeting on Saturday (May 18).
The Chair of Lewisham Labour group recently led the Save Lewisham Hospital campaign for Labour and represents low-paid workers in high street banks for Unite in her day job.
She beat off competition from Whitefoot's Councillor Janet Daby, as well as Florence Nosegbe, Catherine McDonald, Paula Hirst, and Mendora Ogbogbo for selection for the seat – generally seen as one of Labour’s safest.
