DETECTIVES are appealing for information after two dead swans were found shot in woodland near Wrotham.
The animals were found by a member of the public on Saturday in woods off Terrys Lodge Road, apparently with gun shot wounds to the neck.
PC Daphne Allen said: “The death of these swans was no accident.
"They have been deliberately shot through the neck and dumped.
“The animals did not have any identification rings around their legs to suggest where they had come from.
"They may have been shot locally, or they may have been hunted in the wild and then their bodies driven to the location and left there."
The RSPCA has been informed and the swans have been removed by police.
If anyone has any information, they are urged to call 101, quoting incident reference 11-520.
