JUST months after slamming BBC radio bosses live on air, Deptford's Danny Baker has won a top broadcasting award.

The Millwall fan, who now lives in Blackheath, scooped the Best Entertainment Programme prize at the Sony Radio Academy Awards last night.

Mr Baker was lauded for his Saturday morning BBC 5 Live show, which features listeners calling in with hilarious stories and special guests answering the all important question - will it be red sauce, brown sauce or no sauce at all in their sausage sandwich?

Judges praised the DJ for showing "the flair and palpable enthusiasm of someone who oozes with a love and desire to be on the radio."

That enthusiasm was tested in November, when the star learned his BBC London show was being axed and branded station bosses "weasels" on air in a two-hour tirade before walking out.

After the awards, he wrote on Twitter: "Don't think I've ever been more bowled over by an audience reaction."
