WORK on a £5M scheme to revitalise Bromley North Village is set to start this summer.

The project aims to make the area – which includes the Market Square, East Street and the northern part of the High Street – more attractive to pedestrians.

It will include a different pavement surface – with grey and yellow blocks, new lights, more trees, and improvements to the pedestrian exit of The Hill car park.

Portfolio holder for renewal and recreation Councillor Peter Morgan said: “This is fantastic news for the town centre and in these difficult financial times it is vital to do all we can to ensure people want to shop, trade and spend time in the town centre.”

The scheme is funded by Bromley Council, Transport for London and the Mayor of London’s outer London fund.
