A BEXLEYHEATH charity worker who ran five marathons in five days has raised nearly £4,000 for Children in Need.
Mark Attree, of Swanton Road, ran 130 miles from Birmingham to Bexleyheath from April 29 to May 3.
The charity worker set off on his solo challenge from Pudsey Drive in Sutton Coldfield, just north of Birmingham, before heading to the Children in Need office in White City via Coventry and Milton Keynes before the final push to Bexleyheath.
The 28-year-old, who works as a designer for the charity, had to contend with countless injuries, infections and blisters during a grueling training regime which involved running around 20 miles from his work in Hammersmith to Bexleyheath once a fortnight.
He said: "It was really difficult mentally and physically, especially the second day which was just 30 miles of the same country road.
"I’m still suffering a bit now: my legs are still stiff and I can feel it a bit in my feet and my toes.
"I really underestimated it but it was a real achievement and raising that amount of money is amazing."
