A MURDER investigation has been launched after a teenager shot in the head in Penge on Wednesday died.

Detectives were called to Kenilworth Road at 7.57pm where they found a 19-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim has been named as Kadar Hussein, of Upper Elmers End, Beckenham.

He was rushed to hospital by paramedics in a critical condition but died at 7.55am yesterday (May 9).

Several tributes have been left online for the victim by his friends.

One message posted on Twitter read: "On a day like today all you can do is reminisce on the good times & hold onto the memories. Rip Kadar."

Another read: "Life's too short! Never know what's round the corner. RIP Kadar."

His next of kin have been informed and officers say a post-mortem will be held in due course.

No arrests have been made by police at this stage.
