WORK on turning a former New Eltham primary school into houses is scheduled to start this month.
Montbelle Primary School's buildings have already been demolished and will be replaced by developer Taylor Wimpey's Avery Heights housing project.
Located on a 2.8 acre site between Montbelle Road and Domonic Drive, it will feature 43 one, two, three and four-bedroom homes surrounding a central green.
The developer has also committed to contribute £200,000 towards facilities in the area.
Land and planning director Chris Moore said: "Having received permission to begin work on this exciting new development, we are very much looking forward to starting construction and releasing the first new homes at Avery Heights for sale as soon as possible."
