IS ANYONE in Dartford, Gravesend or Bexley feeling lucky this afternoon?

If so, statistics released by the National Lottery this morning suggest you should be heading to your nearest lottery outlet ahead of tonight’s mid-week draw.

Since the lottery was launched in November 1994, lucky homeowners living in the Dartford DA postcode have bagged 231 prizes, each worth £50,000 or more.

A total of 32 millionaires have been created across the postcode area, which stretches as far east as Welling and as far west as Cobham.

This means the postcode has now been ranked the ninth luckiest in the country based on lotto big wins in the 19-years the lottery has run for.

To mark the area’s lucky streak, Dartford’s newest jackpot winners Carly Wiggett, 23, and Becky Witt, 24, have presented a commemorative plaque to the Mayor of Dartford, Councillor Ann Allen.

The best friends, who are both training in Lambeth to become Police Community Support Officers, scooped £336,000 in a Euromillions draw in March.

A National Lottery spokeswoman said: “Congratulations to the people of Dartford, they live in one of the UK’s luckiest postcodes.

“Maybe the fact Anne of Cleeves lived in the area after her lucky escape from Henry VIII’s penchant for beheading his wives has helped set the tone for lucky Dartford?”

“Around 30 major prizes have been won each week, and with more than 3,200 National Lottery millionaires across the UK, nearly everyone will have a lucky winner in their neighbourhood.”

The biggest DA postcode jackpot in recent history was won in 2009 by Ted and Marilyn Newton, of Fleet Road, Dartford, who scooped £7.9 million.

But despite the huge jackpot win, the couple insisted in 2010 insisted they wouldn't be moving house because they like living in Dartford.
