A DISGRACE is what News Shopper voters have called the rising costs of staging the 2012 Olympics.

Visitors to News Shopper's website were asked to vote on what they thought about the forecast that the price of London hosting the Olympics will rise to £5bn.

The biggest number of voters, 56.2 per cent, said it is a disgrace the original budget for the Olympics looks likely to be so wildly inaccurate.

Another 21.2 per cent of people said they hope they do not have to pay any more towards the cost of the Games.

The third most popular answer, at 15.7 per cent, was from people who do not care about the costs because the Games are worth any price.

The final 6.7 per cent of voters were resigned to the costs of the Olympics being higher than expected, saying it was always going to happen.
