FRESH from announcing a split with his JLS bandmates, Marvin Humes has set up a new scholarship at D&B School of Performing Arts.

Many years ago Mr Humes trained with the school in Bromley Road, Downham, and remains close to the principals, Donna and Bonnie Sullivan.

He has launched the Marvin Humes Scholarship, offering three years tuition fees to one candidate, which will pay for a three year musical theatre course.

Mr Humes will act as a mentor to the recipient and help to guide them through their training at the school.

He said: "The idea of the scholarship is absolutely incredible and to be a part of it is amazing.

"What Donna and Bonnie did for me as a youngster was priceless.

"They definitely taught me everything I needed to know in terms of building a career in the performing arts."

The scholarship is open to anyone who will be over 16 in September 2013, with Mr Humes joining an experienced audition panel to find the scholar.
