THE revamped Cutty Sark is celebrating its one year anniversary today after it was unveiled in Greenwich following a £50m restoration.

The iconic tea clipper – which first set sail in 1869 and came to Greenwich in 1954 - was ravaged by fire and reopened by the Queen on April 26 last year.

The new look ship – which has been raised 11 ft into the air – has been voted both the Outstanding New Tourism Project 2012 and this year's ugliest new building after winning the Carbuncle Cup 2012.

There have been 350,000 visitors in her first year of opening with October 30 – when a Halloween party was thrown on board – seeing a record number of 2,219 guests.

Director of Cutty Sark Trust Richard Doughty said: “The ship has had a fabulous reception, exceeding our expectations.

“Over 350,000 have come to see Cutty Sark since Her Majesty The Queen reopened her. If you haven’t been yet you simply must come and experience the revitalised Cutty Sark for yourself”.

Have you revisited the Cutty Sark this year? What do you think of its design?
