A SIXTEEN-YEAR-OLD boy wanted to leave a Downham house party because it was getting quite “aggy” shortly before he was fatally stabbed in the chest, a court heard.

Nathaniel Brown was found lying face down on a toy box by the teenage hostess of the party in Launcelot Road in the early hours of August 1 last year.

He died shortly after.

Felix Connel, 19, from Middlesex, Jeffrey Otete, 19, from Giffin Street in Deptford, and a 16-year-old boy who cannot be named for legal reasons are on trial accused of his murder.

Connel denies murder but admits stabbing the victim once in self-defence and says Nathaniel was armed with a kitchen knife, an Old Bailey jury heard this afternoon.

The 16-year-old and Otete also deny murder and Otete said he was in another room when the tragedy struck.

Defending the 16-year-old, Richard Carey-Hughes said: “So far as he was concerned it was out of the blue.

“He never contemplated that the silly, stupid confrontation could lead to such trouble and such tragedy.”

Zhane Smith, 17, who threw the party while her mum and stepfather were away, said the mostly peaceful party had an atmosphere before Nathaniel wanted to leave.

She said: “That is when Nats said ‘can you order me a cab, they are moving aggy’ – it means they are dodgy.”

She told the court shortly after Nathaniel had been stabbed she heard screams and thought she saw a knife flashing as one of the defendants was leaving.

Miss Smith said: "Everyone was screaming on the stairs.

"I was saying ‘stop it, stop it’. I didn't see the knife but I saw something sharp come towards me.”

The trial continues.
