A WOMAN was subjected to a torrent of racist abuse before having beer thrown at her on a train travelling to Falconwood.

British Transport Police officers are appealing for witnesses to the incident, which happened on April 6 between 10pm and 10.30pm.

The 52-year-old woman boarded the train at Charing Cross at the same time as a group of around 10 white men.

PC Adrian Watts said: “The men began chanting racist remarks and using foul language towards the woman in an attack that continued for the next 30 minutes.

“One of the men poked the woman on the forehead with his finger whilst another threw beer at her.”

The men were aged between 19 and 25 and one was wearing a cream jacket with a yellow logo on the arm.

PC Watts added: “Not only was this a frightening and humiliating incident for the victim, but it must have been an intimidating experience for other passengers who were forced to listen to the group’s offensive and derogatory language.”

Witnesses should call 0800 405040 quoting B9/LSA or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
