A DOWNHAM teenage party host says she heard screams and saw the flash of a knife seconds after Nathaniel Brown was fatally stabbed in the chest.

The 16-year-old died of his injuries sustained at the house party in Launcelot Road, Downham, in the early hours of August 1 last year.

Felix Connel, 19, from Middlesex, Jeffrey Otete, aged 19, of Giffin Street, Deptford, and a 16-year-old who cannot be named for legal reasons are on trial for his murder at the Old Bailey.

Zhane Smith, 17, who threw the party at her house gave evidence via videolink today (April 25).
She said: "Everyone was screaming on the stairs.

"I was saying ‘stop it, stop it’. I didn't see the knife but I saw something sharp come towards me. I ducked."

One party guest told her Nathaniel had been stabbed and she found him face down on a toy box in the living room.

The door had been kicked off its hinges and there were CDs strewn everywhere, the court heard.

She called the paramedics and was told to scream his name in his ear and hold a towel to his injuries until they arrived.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 4.09am but Nathaniel was pronounced dead one hour later.

A post-mortem examination showed he had been stabbed once in the left upper chest, penetrating his heart.

The court heard that afterwards the three defendants left the area on the 321 bus, before heading into London on the Tube.

All three deny murder.

Felix Connel admits stabbing Nathaniel once but says it was in self-defence.

The trial continues.
