A WEST Wickham man has been left perplexed by a leak in his road, which he says has not been dealt with since early March.

Richard Redden, 70, says the leak is in Station Road, West Wickham, outside Sainsbury's.

He said: "If you see it it is like having a couple of taps on. And it has been going on for six weeks.

"After two weeks an arrow appeared on the pavement, but since then nothing has been done.

"There has been no sign of any workers, nothing visible being done about it.

And Mr Redden, a Bromley resident of 43 years, says the situation needs to change.

He added: "I remember not long ago Thames Water were telling everyone to save water, and all this has gone on for weeks and weeks."

Thames Water said: "As this leak is on a busy section of road, we need permission to get the repair done so the local authority can make sure disruption is kept to a minimum.

"We're really sorry for the length of time this is taking but are working to get the job done as soon as we can."

Executive Councillor for Environment Colin Smith said: "We have not yet been asked for a permit by Thames Water and if they had applied, we would have issued one.

"We have already brought the concerns of residents to the attention of Thames so we know they are aware of the problem."
