PLANS for Dartford rail services to be taken over by Transport for London (TfL) have been branded unacceptable by the leader of Kent County Council.
The operator wants to run mainline services to Dartford and Dunton Green, near Sevenoaks, and says commuters would be able to use Oyster cards.
TfL claims it would mean more capacity and more frequent off-peak services.
But in a letter to the transport minister seen by the BBC, KCC leader Councillor Paul Carter said there was not enough line capacity to run additional services without affecting Kent commuter trains.
The council remained firmly opposed to TfL’s plans, he continued.
Cllr Carter was backed up by Liberal Democrat spokesman Cllr Ian Chittenden but opposed by Labour group leader Cllr Gordon Cowan, who said TfL's plans could be good for commuters.
