A HITHER Green supermarket close to a homeless hostel has been successful in its bid to sell early morning booze.
The Co-Operative on Hither Green Lane currently sells alcohol from 8am but had applied to start serving it at 7am, seven days a week.
Ward councillor Cllr Mike Harris had led opposition to the plans, warning about the adverse effect the plans could have on vulnerable residents of homeless shelter Spring Gardens in Ennersdale Road.
St Mungo's, the charity which runs the complex, had also objected to the earlier booze sales.
But, on April 17, a Lewisham Council licensing committee approved the application.
