BEXLEY Council is asking residents to have their say about a guide to improve the look and feel of Sidcup High Street.

The six week consultation on the Sidcup High Street Design and Identity Guide ends on May 16.

It is part of the £1.8 million In Store for Sidcup programme designed to attract shoppers back to the High Street and including guidelines for improvements to its roads, crossings, pavements, civic spaces, outdoor furniture, street trees, shop fronts and signage.

The programme is supported by £1.2m from the Mayor of London’s Outer London Fund, and £600,000 from Bexley Council.

Residents and local businesses are invited to comment on plans which include proposals to unify the shop front parades, increase the number of trees and green spaces on the high street and stone seating.

Cabinet member for economic development and regeneration, Councillor Linda Bailey, said: "The guide has been drawn up to give ideas about how Sidcup High Street can regenerate itself.

"For it to work we need residents and businesses to help shape and take ownership of it so I would urge them to take the time to look at it and share their thoughts."

Details of the consultation are available on the Council’s website at bexley.gov.uk/instoreforsidcup as well as on the project site: instoreforsidcup.org/Design-and-Identity-Guide
