GREENWICH-BORN Daniel Day-Lewis is one of only three Brits to appear in Time magazine's 100 most influential people in the world.

The three-times Oscar-winning actor, who has both British and Irish citizenship, was joined on the list by the Duchess of Cambridge and novelist Hilary Mantel.

Many stars from the world of showbusiness are named, including director Steven Spielberg and Jennifer Lawrence who won best actress at this year's Oscars.

She appears on one of the issue's seven separate covers, as does Jay Z .

Musicians Beyonce, Justin Timberlake and Frank Ocean also make the list.

Time managing editor Rick Stengel said: "This year we are trying something new: seven cover portraits of Time 100 honorees who reflect the breadth and depth of our list, each one profiled inside - as is our tradition - by an equally luminary voice."
